Host was a font of useful information and also tried to pre-empt possible concerns before they happened. Clearly wanted you to enjoy your stay and avoid any pitfalls of staying on a an island.

We had a great time at the Trout Fly Guesthouse. It was clean, the Rooms look really nice and are well equipped, the Bathrooms are modern and roomy and the hosts are just great people all around. The trout fly is located in the middle of Port Ellen, close to some good Restaurants and bars and the 4 (soon to be 5) southern distilleries on islay. The price per night is (as anywhere on islay) not exactly cheap, but since it includes a phenomenal breakfast I'd say it's pretty fair and might even be the best value for money you're going to get on the island.
