With our primary reservation (other apartment) being canceled one month prior to departure, we were looking for still available choices along the Makarska riviera. The option had to be close to the sea and have sea view, so you can imagine there were only a few like that left. This apartment had us at first sight with the pictures of it, however, we must admit we were a bit sceptical about the location, because we never heard of Čaklje before. And it turned out to be the best vacation we ever had!!! The hostess is very friendly, and was waiting for us with the keys to the apartment as well as her spouse brought us to our parking spot immediately upon arrival. The whole house with the apartments is beautiful and very clean! We must say we didn't mind the smell from the restaurants' kitchen when sitting on our balcony, however, it did make us hungry every now and then :) In the neighborhood there is only one small market and two restaurants (in a distance of approx. 1 km), but this is exactly what makes this place so special. It's calm and not crowded as some well known places along the riviera and therefore an ideal place to rest your soul. Within a 5 min walk there is a beach with only a few people using it, so if you like some privacy on the beach, you can get it there!
