Our apartment on the ground floor was spacious , comfortable and clean. We received a warm welcome from Maria’s mother and the cleaning lady was friendly and helpful. The location was good an easy walk into Plaka, where you find good restaurants and a couple of supermarkets. We walked to the beach in Almyrida, but of course it’s uphill to get back, so you need to be fit. We loved Plaka it’s calm and relaxed and would have no hesitation in returning and staying at Demeliza Apartments

Maria, the owner, decided to accommodate us in a much bigger and more comfortable Room 3 on the ground floor instead of Superior Studio that we booked originally. She just wanted us to have more space and she didn't even charge any extra money for that change! Also Maria's mum and Marianna, the cleaning lady, were extremely welcoming and accommodating. Our room was cleaned every other day and both the room and the whole apartment house were spotless. The apartment house is very well situated - there is a great tavern with a sunset view just a few steps down from the house and Plaka's little square is also nearby (other taverns, two bigger shops, etc.). For swimming, we definitely recommend fjord Koutalas (Koutalas beach), which is just a few minutes from the apartment house by car (don't miss a romantic lighthouse, which is just a little further), but kids may prefer sandy beaches in Almyrida, where you can enjoy lively nightlife too. We saw a lot of people going down from Plaka to Almyrida on foot, but it is rather a long way (and you need to go up a hill when going back to Plaka) so renting a car is definitely recommended. Overall, we were very well looked after at Demeliza's and if we have a chance to go back to Crete, we will gladly stay at Demeliza's again!

Our stay at Demeliza was excellent! The owner Maria and her mother are wonderful! They arranged for us to check in earlier and were super accomodating when we arrived. There was even cold water and juice waiting for us when we arrived. The location is excellent, with two super markets and several tavernas in the viccinity. Even a super cool place for coffee and delicious breakfast called Siga Siga! The apartment was spacious with a separate bedroom and kitchen equipped with everything you need. We didn't really cook, but if want to there's everything for you to do so. There was even complementary rusks, butter, and jam for a quick breakfast. The rooms are very clean, and they are cleaning them every other day. You do need a car to get around, but then again Crete can't really be enjoyed without a car.

Well placed, close to village centre with excellent tavernas and shop. A short (15min), downhill walk to Almyrida, with lovely beach and bus route to Chania (3Euro 20, every couple of hours). Cool, clean with all the facilities you need. Highly recommended.
