The hosts were very helpful. Located near old city and coast and transport. Everything easy walking. Great apartment in quiet place. Everything for need for a holiday break on beautiful coastline. Ferry to Elba easily reached by bus

The accommodation is a tiny garden house in the middle of Piombino, northerly from the old town. The hosts had put a lot of patience and their own travels' memories to create this cosy, calm, and well equipped place, that feels like a home to each, who stops there. The mixture of modern, old fashioned and even self-made solutions reminds in some way of a small fisherman cottage. It would be absolutely perfect, if it stood on a cliff with the view on a sea, far from a city noise. But even if it doesn't, you can fully enjoy the hospitality of the hosts and the charm of Italian everyday life. The kitchen and the bathroom are well equipped and very clean. The bed is comfortable. All rooms are easy to ventilate, and together with the roofed terrace give a nice, cool shadow in hot summer days. The space is big enough for a stay of two or three adults for a week or more. In 15 minutes of a slow walk through the city you can reach the small old town of Piombino, in less than 10 minutes - the rocky sea coast with the access to the water after walking down the cliff. To get to some beautiful sandy beaches you have to get into your car and go to Baratti (10km), San Vincenzo(21km), Cecina in the north, or to the nature park area between Torre del Sale and Cambonifera (10 - 20km) in the east. If you came with the car, you have to look for a parking places on the streets around. It's not difficult (at least after the high season), however at the evening it can be busy. The host can give you much more tips - just ask. He is very helpful and speak very good english.

Roberto goes above and beyond as a host, and we really enjoyed our stay in his garden home. It's in the backyard of the hosts' house, but there's enough privacy. The apartment is spacious and the kitchen well equipped (no dishwasher though, but we weren't bothered by that). We really liked the garden, and the interior feels more like a home than just a generic rental. The bedroom has AC, which was a much needed relief in the humid heat. Piombino is a not-so-well known gem, and the apartment is located within walking distance to the sea (10 min) and the old town (15 min). There is a beach without a "bagno" in town, the next real beach with bagno and a restaurant is 2 km away (Calamoresca I think?). We rented bikes at the bike shop across the street to get to that beach (Metabike, 20 EUR per bike per day). A surprise hit for us was the pool of the very close Hotel Bellavista (7 EUR per half day, 14 EUR for a full day). You can also take the ferry to Elba island from Piombino, a car rental (Avis) is available close to the old port.
