My friends and I all agreed the property was exceptional. The communal rooms were spacious and comfortable, the views from the balcony area were breathtaking and we had all the facilities we needed for a comfortable stay. It was a delight to have breakfast prepared for us each morning with a variety of fruit , yogurt, cold meats and pastries. There was even a homemade cake one morning. The staff were friendly ,courteous and extremely helpful . There were responsive to our requests and quick to address any problems Highly recommended

This is a really beautiful house, with every comfort and facility to make for a most enjoyable stay in Pinhao. It is very spacious; all bedrooms are large and very comfortable. Showers are also excellent, as are kitchen and living room facilities. It is cool and comfortable in the 35 deg heat in Douro! The breakfasts are excellent, prepared daily by Helena, the helpful, friendly owner .Daniela is very helpful, with restaurant and tour suggestions. The honesty bar is a delight to have and is very well stocked with wine, beer and soft drinks at very reasonable prices. It is the best house I have stayed in, over many years of travel and I would highly recommend it to anyone exploring the magical Douro Valley, particularly if travelling by car; the property is a 10 minute steep walk up from the little village, so proper footwear advisable! We chose to stay at Helena’s Family House because of the many rooms, bathrooms and the short distance to the city. Helena made an excellent breakfast for us. We were recommend to eat at. Veladouro, and like to pass on that recommendation. Remember to make reservations.
