The roomwas well equipped with cooking facilities. It was well clean and tidy. Welcome treats like cheese and ham and bottles of water was unexpectedly kept inside the refrigerator to give heartful greetings. We could take our meals outside at the terrace to admire the Douro Velley after cooking. The staff was very helpful to store our luggage upon our early arrival

The place is just a few minutes' walk from Pinhão train station. The apartment is small with two bedrooms but just perfect for me and my husband. The place is clean, complete kitchenette and bathroom. The bathroom might be too narrow for "big" people, though.There is no elevator, and the stairway going up to the 2nd floor is very narrow, so lifting a heavy luggage can be difficult. The rooftop is lovely with the view of the valley and river. There's a restaurant called Churrasqueira Pinhão where we had a surprisingly delicious dinner. I had the grilled lamb chops served with beans and potatoes and my husband had a rumpsteak. No frills very authentic and delicious. The red wine was excellent too. Nobody speaks English but people are quite friendly. We were very happy with our stay in Pinhão when the town isn't crowded yet. We stayed only one night but we can really recommend Casa Rocha.

The location was very central, close to the railway station, shops and river. Communication was great and the gesture of providing a cheese platter and bottle of red on arrival was a terrific touch. Despite the room being small, the facilities including a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and electric oven helped to make our stay both comfortable and affordable. We'd stay there again.
