“A Magical Stay in Umbria”
21 Aug 2024
Our stay in this rustic cottage in a tiny village of just 64 residents near the Umbria-Tuscany border was nothing short of extraordinary. We were welcomed not as guests but as family—a heartwarming experience for us, coming from Eastern Europe. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel at home, greeting us with fresh bread, cookies, water, and coca cola in the fridge—a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the rest of our stay. The cottage itself was filled with artistic touches, with some charming paintings by Michaela, one of the hosts. The surrounding landscape was ideal for cycling, with breathtaking views, visits to local wineries, and trips to nearby towns like Assisi, Perugia, Deruta, Florence, and beautiful lakes. I feel like we barely scratched the surface of what this area has to offer. Our hosts made this experience truly special. On our first day, when they heard we were planning to cycle to a nearby museum, the husband offered to drive there first to check if the road was clear—a small act of kindness that meant so much. Another evening, they took us to their favorite spot on a nearby hill to watch the sunset, bringing blankets and wine as they shared stories about the region’s history. Later, they guided us through a forest trail they’re preparing for guests, where the husband taught us about the local trees and the import
