“Quiet village, a good base for visiting North York Moors highlights”

Functional and spacious appartment. Very well stocked kitchen.

“Amazing stay,”

Provisions supplied such as pint of milk, tea, coffee. The owner we met was lovely and gave information when asked but kept their distance for us to enjoy the cottage?

“The perfect rural retreat with great access to the coast and countryside”
22 Feb 2025
My wife and I spent 4 nights here in February. We originally looked for accommodation in York, but decided to expand our search area as prices in York were pretty expensive. I'm so glad we came across Yeoman's Cottage as it was not only great value for money but the perfect retreat in a pretty village, well located for us to explore both the city, coast, and the North York Moors National Park. There's a farmyard opposite and the soothing sound of a babbling brook. Yeoman's Cottage was actually purpose built in 2020 but looks very similar to an old barn that previously stood in its place. The owners live in the neighbouring house and their front garden has been repurposed as a parking space and patio area for the cottage. It's all on one floor and divided into three rooms - a combined bedroom and living room with a useful 'walk-in wardrobe' area behind the bed; a kitchen/diner and a bathroom. It is beautifully decorated with great attention to detail and all the facilities and modern technology you could need, including an electric 'wood burner' that kept us extra cosy on the cold winter's nights; wi-fi; smart TV; an oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher in the kitchen, plus additional laundry facilities in the shed next door. There's also an EV charging point if you need one. Upon arrival, we collected the keys from a lockbox, but it was necessary to fill out a form and provide evidence of our identity (driving licence/passport) to the owners once we had settled in (one of the planning conditions for the cottage, I believe), so it was a good opportunity to meet them. They kindly provided a bottle of milk, home made jam and honey and some chocolate biscuits for our arrival, along with the usual essentials of tea and coffee, cleaning products, shower gel, shampoo, towels, soap, etc.

“Would love to return to this ideal getaway”

The cottage was in a peaceful location. Spacious, comfortable and very clean, with helpful hosts. An ideal location to explore the local area, with plenty to do.
