We've stayed in many places over the years - Neidpath Castle is definitely our favourite and easily the most memorable. Whilst it's easily the most expensive per night stay we've had, it is absolutely worth every penny (I booked a single night for the wife's 40th birthday). There are so few opportunities to stay in your own castle, entirely by yourself - and in such a spectacular location overlooking the river. The lovely Katerina met us on arrival and provided a full tour, as well as returning to collect the keys upon checking-out, where we discussed the history and ongoing site renovations. Absolutely every room is available to explore at your leisure - visit the old prison in the middle of the night - if you dare.... or go up onto the roof during a clear night to see the starry sky - the large floodlights uplighting the castle switch off automatically late night. The produce provided for breakfast was very nice, as was the coffee machine, biscuits, tea, milk and orange juice - all hidden behind a 'secret' door. The large bath, four-poster bed and huge log fireplace were great, as was the Bluetooth Marshall speaker to add ambience. The castle features lots of history, from the many tapestries and dressed manikins, to the display cabinets on the very top floor showing various items discovered around the grounds - which is also where you'll find the doors to access the rooftop walkways for spectacular views. Be sure to visit the village of Peebles down the road - Cocoa Black (for amazing chocolate desserts) and Asado Gaucho (Argentinian Steakhouse serving excellent food) - note that there is the option for dining in the castle if you wish. We hope to return someday.

This was the most amazing experience ever and the Staff are fantastic! Highly recommend! 10 stars! The room, the bed is beautiful, the sitting room makes you feel like royalty, the view, the hidden staircases, being able to have a fire in the fireplace, the hidden kitchenette (which held some wonderful little snacks), the history, EVERYTHING! Making family back home jealous….priceless! Thank you to the staff and owners for sharing such a magnificent part of history! We will be forever grateful that we were able to experience Neidpath Castle.

This place went above and beyond. Kitchenette was unexpected and fully stocked for our use. The property is an absolute dream!!
