My three-night stay at Suites Canto do Pontal in Paraty was exceptional. The suites are family-owned, and Romolo and his mom live on the adjacent property. Romolo is a fantastic host, super friendly, and speaks pretty good English. He helpfully spoke to me in Portuguese to help me practice and gave me lots of encouragement. The property is very close to the beach, which has a few bars and restaurants, and it's only a five-minute walk to the historic center, which is beautiful and a must-visit. Kayak tours also leave from the beach, and Romolo can book these for you if you tell him a couple of days in advance. The suite was spacious, with a nice bathroom and very well cleaned. There was ample space in the wardrobe, nightstands (not common in Brazil), and adequate power outlets to charge my devices. There's a little laundry room/kitchenette where you can wash your clothes and prepare coffee and snacks. It also has a fridge and a microwave. Romolo was an incredibly upbeat and friendly host, and his mom was also very helpful. She gave me advice on drying clothes and even brought my stuff under the porch when it rained while I was out.
