In Short: A beautiful, friendly, and relaxed welcome to Lisbon, with easy access to the train, taking you to the centre of Lisbon centre in one direction or Cascai in the other. I feel must write a review to at the very least counter the one-star review I’ve seen on here, which seems to relate more to an issue with booking.com than ‘Clever Alternative’ and its incredibly welcoming hosts. When we arrived, we were greeted with a box of essentials (wine, pastries, coffee, etc.) and a spacious, clean, penthouse apartment with a lovely terrace and view it also smelt great! The pictures do not do it justice, its kind of contemporary bohemian. The hosts were incredibly inviting and helpful and ensured that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay, including discussing and providing plenty of advice on the local area. As only two of us were staying some extra bedrooms weren’t open, however there was more than enough space, this place would suit 4—6 people just perfectly. A great deal of thought has been put into making people feel welcome and able to enjoy their time, there are some essentials like water (and wine!) should you not feel inclined to walk 5 mins around the corner to the local shops! On that note the location is just great, roughly 10 min walk to the breach and literally 3 mins to the local train station, which will take you to the centre of Lisbon in one direction and Cascai in the other, both very worthy of a visit. Incidentally the train is not a bother at night. The local area is quiet at night, not a bustle of activity… if you want action you’ll need to head into Central Lisbon! All in all, great hosts, and apartment and a great holiday, We both wholeheartedly recommend. Tips: I’d suggest using the booking app to communicate. Replying directly to email notifications is, from our experience, not reliable. The apartment is three floors up and there is no lift available, be ready to carry your luggage up the stairs! It’s worth it!
