Accommodation was clean and in good order. Fantastic location. Esther was a fantastic host and very helpful both before and during our stay. We enjoyed our time in Scotland very much and wouldn't hesitate to return.

“A Truly Memorable Stay – Thanks to Nick, Esther, and Stunning Surroundings! Our holiday was made all the more special t”

The property itself was small, cosy, and just perfect for a relaxing getaway. It was spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. There was a lovely sense of warmth and simplicity that added to the charm of the whole experience.

“An inspiring part of the Scottish Highlands to refresh soul on magical mountain & nature trails”
24 May 2025
A well designed and very clean two bedroom, one bathroom cabin/cottage at Onich Loch-side with excellent self-catering/kitchen facilities, comfortable lounge room & sensational picture window views of the Glencoe mountains and Loch Linne. Absolutely perfect accommodation for a couple or small family who can relax and enjoy the exquisite views and/or take to the endless walking trails around the Loch and up through the Glencoe Glen. A superb restaurant nearby and a cafe and Co-op in the beautiful nearby village of Ballachulish. A short drive to Fort William for all other supplies and the gateway to mountain adventures and walking on Ben Nevis. A top interest for us is the history of Scotland and the geo-history of the Scottish Highlands, the super volcanoes and glacial valleys of the Glencoe Mountains and some of the best geology and landscapes in the world in the Lochaber Geopark. The excellent Cabins on the Loch at Onich are perfect to base an exploration of the Highlands. Hosts Esther and Nick made our visit really extra special - wonderfully welcoming, super friendly and amazingly helpful with guidance, information and history on the many must-see nature and geotourism highlights in this special part of the Scottish Highlands: the UNESCO Lochaber Geopark and Glencoe Museum; the Glencoe Mountains and u-shaped glacial valleys - combining geology with dramatic hikes and climbs; Ben Nevis and the All a' Mhuilinn Path (North Face) - ancient volcano (~400 million years ago) with a classic caldera collapse, granite intrusions, and volcanic ring faults and amazing trails and climbs; Glen Roy and the Parallel Roads where Charles Darwin studied the geological history; the Strontian Mine; and the ancient volcanic ring structures of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula A 10 out of 10 stay!
