We stayed for one night in Omalos before visiting the Samaria gorge. It's a well located place in a quiet natural environment.

very friendly staff, great evening meal at a very good price, more than enough for breckfast. they even gave us a lift in the morning to the start of the Samarien gorge, saving 5km walk. highly recomended.

The pension is very closely located to the main entrance of the Samaria gorge ( which is very fortunate after a whole day of walking - taking the bus + boat to the entrance again to get your car). The hosts do not speak a lot of English, but make you feel welcome. There is a free parking and you can eat there (we did not as they were smoking inside, so I cannot say antything about the food). However, the room is very basic and outdated. For instance, the door of our room could not be locked from the outside ( or we were too tired to figure out the right way), the shower was coldish, the beds are fine, The shutters of the windows could not be opened by guests, so there was unfortunately no sunlight or fresh air in the bedroom. We recommend this pension for one night after a long day at the gorge, if all you need is a good night of sleep. If you want a little more luxury, we suggest you drive a little bit longer or go to the hostel next door.
