Absolutely wonderful surprise to find Katie and Dermot and their charming spacious home from home. I was on a completely unexpected working trip to the Racecourse and needed to stay on longer. I found this wonderful spot quite by accident and couldn't have been luckier. I was spoiled in every sense including a sumptuous bath and Katie doing my laundry as I had only packed for one night ! An utter delight with delicious breakfast and a wonderful relaxing room. I'll absolutely be back - thank you x

Alma House is wonderfully decorated with all the facilities you could wish for. Katie and Dermott are the nicest and most accommodating hosts I've stayed with. Never intrusive but always available. Fruit, cereals, yoghurt, toast, and accompanying jams are freely available for breakfast. And pleased to have decent decaf coffee for the machine. Despite being 100m from the A4 as it passes through Newbury and 500m from the town centre, it's wonderfully quiet with zero traffic or other noise. My only worry is if they have any space when I stay in Newbury next time
