The hostel was okay overall — clean enough, decent location, nothing extraordinary, but it does the job. But here’s what really annoyed me: nowhere did it say you need to bring your own lock for the locker. So I arrive after a long day, exhausted and just wanting to lock up my stuff and rest — and I find out I can’t, unless I buy one from the front desk. And guess what? They’re selling a flimsy, made-in-China padlock for $7. Seven dollars! For something you’d find at a dollar store. It honestly felt like a setup. Just be upfront about it in the listing — “Bring your own lock or buy one from us for $7” — that’s all it takes. This little surprise completely ruined my first impression. If you care about your guests, be more transparent.

There was a high level of cleanliness in all public spaces. There's a large garden and outdoor space, which is a huge plus in the middle of New York City. The staff were friendly. There's also a convenient self-checkout area where you can buy things like snacks, medicines, laundry detergent, etc. at any time. It was also the kind of place where you can meet other travellers easily, if you want.

Unfortunately, one of the hotel staff, possibly someone in charge of the restaurant, asked me — and not the others in the kitchen — for the room and hotel access card. even though I had been staying at the hotel for 9 days. "I believe this was an act of discrimination, which I strongly reject, even though I did my best to remain calm at the time
