The Four Points by Sheraton Midtown is located on W 40th St, immediately opposite the main Bus Terminal and 300m west of Times Square - consequently, as a hub for getting around NY it can't be faulted....but the immediate area around the hotel isn't great. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable, with excellent staff and a good breakfast. There are 30-odd floors in the hotel, most of which appeared to have 8 rooms - four facing forward (Rooms 001-004), four facing back (Rooms 005-008). The rooms were spacious and with good beds and bathrooms - but all looked a little old and tired.

This is a fantastic value hotel. It's a 10 minute walk to Times Square, mins to a subway ( we used this a lot ), yes there are some interesting characters about but hey it's NYC. We never once felt uncomfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodated our requests with a smile. The breakfast was great, a lot of choice, the kids loved the "make your own waffles" and the staff in the breakfast room were so good. The room was a good size, certainly for new york - always smaller than european rooms, but you are not going to spend a lot of time in the room. We would happily stay here again.

The hotel was perfectly suitable for my four days long trip as a solo traveller, the staff's kindness and genuine helpfulness deeply impressed me and I would definetely choose them again for a second stay. Midtown was absolutely the best choice when it came to the places I wanted to explore.
