With spending 14 nights at the Melrose, we had more than enough time to survey, inspect and make notes. We have been returning to New Orleans for almost 30 years, and are well versed in the easy, laid back lifestyle. First time at the Melrose. (Please read on further at your leisure). The location was ideal for us. Out the door and across the street into the Quarter. Or, around the corner and into the Faubourg Marigny. Both ways, to catch up on old times with old friends, and establish some new friends too. Breakfast was more than sufficient, whether you were healthy calorie-counting, pre diabetic sugar conscious, or overloading on BMI calories, amply maintaining your girth. Sweet and savoury, just apply an inventive & incentive mind, e.g. I could make an apple crumble pudding from their breakfast fayre. (Just saying !!!). Some small areas of the property were showing signs of wear & tear, with the maintenance team progressing with the upkeep and improvement. With small steps forward, they were advancing in leaps and bounds. Example, tho' the rain shower was 'toasty', we did have a hiccup with the hot water to the sinks, having mentioned it to reception staff, maintenance had it resolved by the following day. The history of the Melrose, is as colourful (or colorful) as the city itself, (from info found online). And, similar to the city, the Melrose is easy (-going), mellow & chilled atmosphere. A prefect place to come back to, after a days exploring or revelry. (On occasion, an ungracious uncouth client, maybe, being ingloriously ignorant of others). Across the street is a bar, we may have frequented, back some 15 years or so ago. Still serving good grub for the famished, still with eclectic clientele, and the occasional famous face (picture quiz? - I know that face?).

The pool was really perfect to cool down as it’s been a hot week. Gré location for the French Quarter and other great places. Great room size.

The location was great, comfy bed, great architecture and facilities plus a nice simple continental breakfast to set you up for the day.

Melrose Mansion is a hidden gem, the hotel is beautiful and the room was very spacious. We loved the pool, with the garlands and flower petals falling in by accident. Breakfast was simple but very good, and all the staff were very pleasant and attentive. The location is perfect, between the Vieux Carré and Frenchmen Street, everything is within walking distance and the street is quiet. I would love to come back!
