Frank “Nostalgic hidden gem ryokan next to Zenkoji”

The building itself is very charming in the old-world kind of way, extremely nostalgic and suitable for someone who wants to experience Japanese culture. The old couple who are running the place are very friendly. The location is definitely extremely convenient for someone who wants to go to Zenkoji early in the morning.

Charming little guesthouse in the centre of town, a short bus hop from the main station and easy walking distance to the main temple and restaurant streets. Owners are welcoming and helpful, the rooms are authentically traditional and the building feels like a character in itself. A real taste of classic Japan.

Lovely old fashioned ryokan with congenial hosts (limited English but super friendly and helpful), right on the main road to Zenkoji temple. Be prepared for lots of steep steps (no lifts) in an old, all wooden building, shared sinks and toilets, and a nice old fashioned onsen bath. Less luxury, more history of old style Japanese hospitality.

The owners are very kind and provide great service! The owners will try to help you get comfortable and get you accommodated with any needs that may arise such as my case they helped with the futons being a little short for me!
