Amazing location, efficient and helpful staff and tasty meals. Extraordinary terrain to explore all around The Retreat. Great views from the roof terrace.

We stayed at The Retreat in December and had a fantastic time. The Irish owner (we can’t remember his name) was really welcoming and did his best to make every guest feel at home. You can tell that he truly loves the island, his job and has a passion for hospitality. The meals in the evening were tasty and copious. Nothing was too much in terms of dietary requirements. Dinners were shared as a group which was really handy to get to know people and share experiences and best treks. On the last morning we were going back to the harbour and he gave us a lift. Thank you for a lovely time, we hope to be back at the Retreat soon as it was our favourite place on this beautiful island.

The staff was very kind, the location was beautiful although you have to be ready to walk the last 5 minutes as the cars can not get there, but that's actually one of the strongest points of the place. The breakfast was very good and we had dinner one night as well and it was super tasty.

My stay at this retreat in Santo Antão was nothing short of exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and were incredibly friendly throughout my visit. The food was absolutely delicious, showcasing local flavors and prepared with care. Nestled in the middle of the mountains, the location was breathtaking and offered the perfect setting to relax and unwind. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, this place is a must-visit!
