The place was nice and secluded, the backyard is steep but leads directly to the tracks for the Puffin Billy! The scenery in front of the house (and where the living area overlooks) is very pretty, although slightly obstructed by some trees. Everything was clearly somewhat recently renovated, as while certain aspects (like some switches, the floor boards, and a few old telephone wire ports) indicate it's a fairly old build, the bathrooms, bedrooms, and living space all felt noticably new. The bedroom furniture definitely feels like IKEA esque products but they were perfectly fine. The place was COVERED in single pane windows so it definitely gets cold easily, but the combination of central ducted heating, a fireplace (with PLENTY of firewood), electric blankets in the beds, AND an infrared sauna made it just as easy to stay warm. The big, short throw projector was pretty cool, it needed adjustments to make sure it was matched to the screen anytime you moved it, but it was easy to use and we were able to play games and watch movies on it by hooking up our devices. There was even a spare HDMI cable but we brought our own. The kitchen was very well equipped, there is a large stove top, very large oven, a very large and modern fridge, and a dishwasher. We put them all to very good use during our stay and it was super easy to cook for a large group of people given the oven and stoves. It was also equally easy to clean up afterwards with the dishwasher. It doesn't self-open after concluding the wash cycle but doesn't seem to have issues with condensation anyhow. We were able to leave the dirty dishes to it before bed and wake up to everything clean and dried. We enjoyed our stay a lot and actually wanted to extended it beyond our original booking, but sadly the days following us were already booked out.
