I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious and clean the rooms at Courtyard Makkah are. The finishes are modern and fresh, and the bathroom is spacious and clean — easily more generous than those in the “5-star” hotels I’ve previously stayed at in Makkah and Madinah, including the Movenpick and Swissôtel. In terms of comfort and space, this hotel, which is a 4-star hotel, definitely outperforms them. The only real downside is the location relative to the Haram. You’ll need to take the hotel shuttle to get there, which is quite manageable going to the Haram. However, getting back can be a bit confusing — it’s not always clear where to catch the shuttle or which bus is the right one. The language barrier can make this more difficult, especially if you're unfamiliar with the area. However, getting a taxi from the Haram to the hotel is easy if you’re willing to pay. That said, if you're looking for space, comfort, and a modern feel — and you're okay with a bit of a logistical challenge in terms of transport to the Haram — this is a great option.
