The fine print
The free shuttle is available from JR Matsumoto Train Station at 16:00 and 17:00. It is available from the hotel to the station at 09:00 and 10:00. No reservations are needed.Guests with a tattoo may not be permitted to enter public bathing areas and other public facilities.Guests without a meal plan who want to eat breakfast and dinner at the property must make a reservation at least 1 day in advance.Guests who are having dinner at the hotel must check-in before 19:00.

We stayed in a room with the private spa as a bit of a splurge - it was well worth it! A beautiful resort with attentive staff, fantastic dinner experiences and a huge room with traditional seating, but western beds. We came with our seven year old, who adored the yukatas we were all supplied with to wear around the spa. We had a private room for dinner with our own waiter who made a wonderful effort to explain the menu to us and engage our son. A wonderful experience which created lasting memories of a traditional Japanese inn for our little family! Oh, and walked right in without an appointment to a wonderful and relaxing foot/leg massage.

We have private onsen in our room with beautiful panoramic view. We have also visited the public onsen and they are stunning. We have our private room for dinner and breakfast which is quiet and comfortable.

The dining was wonderful. We were able to relax in a separate space for the five of us to eat. We were able to travel comfortably to the hotel because the hotel provided a shuttle bus from Matsumoto Station to the hotel. In addition, we provided baggage delivery and storage services from the group hotel in front of Matsumoto Station to Shoho, so we could enjoy the trip without the burden of carrying luggage.
