Ryokan Overview

A 5-minute drive from National Treasure Matsumoto Castle, Ryokan Seifuso is next to Shinshu University and boasts a view of the Northern Alps and the freshness of the Metoba River. It is ideal for sightseeing such as Kamikochi, a mountainous scenic spot, Norikura Kogen, which has abundant trekking courses, Azumino, an original landscape of Japan blessed with Dosojin and spring water, and Utsukushigahara Kogen, which was praised by Kihachi Ozaki, a mountain poet.
There are many overseas visitors from over 30 countries every year (English available) for sports camps, and university seminars.
The air-conditioned rooms are equipped with a refrigerator, TV and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms and toilets are shared.
Ryokan Seifuso is entirely non-smoking. Free parking (2 locations, 12 spaces, on-site), free rental bicycles and chargeable electric bicycles for sightseeing in the city.
For meals, freshly prepared seasonal Japanese dishes are served. Western breakfast is available upon request (reservation made at reception), and vegetarian options are also available.
The mellow honey yogurt from the eldest son of a beekeeper is extremely popular.

The property was neat and had everything you needed. We were able to have a family onsen each evening and the host was able to accomodate my dietary needs for the breakfast. The host went over and above to help us. We are so grateful and had a wonderful stay at Ryokan Seifuso.

Very clean. Hearty Japanese breakfast. The owner and staff were nice. . No separate showers. You have to use the onsen, even if you are not entering the bath.My wife said the bath would only accommodate 2, and the mens would be cosy with 4. Easy 15 min trip from Matsumoto station by bus. Bus stand 22 just to the right as you exit the station, Google maps with give you the rest.

Lovely Ryokan with really friendly and helpfull staff. We were only there for two nights but it felt like coming home. Great facilities with an onsen, bike rental, small lobby and filled up fridge.
