This is the place to visit if you're visiting the Somme region. Fantastic WW1 knowledge and help is available especially to someone like me that wanted to visit the area bit only had a couple of days. There is hugely impressive selection of books and memorabilia to see. Jenny was extremely helpful in assisting me plan my day out. Dinner is available also if required, and l have to say l was very well looked after. On a side note, I was also able to lock up my motorcycle in the large shed which gives great piece of mind. Jenny is willing to chat and make you feel very comfortable. I had a large double room with en-suite all to myself. And the bed was excellent too!! I really enjoyed my stay at The Silent Picket, it's a home from home kind of establishment. Well done and thanks again

Even before arrival I felt welcome. Exceptional host and hostess who live in this beautiful property. I could not ask for more. I didn't know when I booked that the host and hostess are experts in the history of the two world wars. Without their help and advice I was blindly seeking to 'connect' with my grandfather whose body was never identified in WW1.. I was able to see the probable area where my grandfather was last seen fighting the Germans. The property location is in a quiet farming community and it has a vast library to peruse in comfort in your quest for battle information. The breakfast is as the French enjoy (as did I). An offer of an afternoon brew and delicious cake after a days foraging was an unexpected treat. The hostess can provide evening meals on request.

central and quiet location near to all sites of interest in the area. free parking, free wifi and a spacious outside area. Fabulous property and hosts, very knowledgeable of the area and the history. Big dining room with meals offered (breakfast included in the room cost) which were homemade and a very reasonable price. A selection of drinks also available and again well priced. A good sized library within the dining room with many reference books covering all aspects of the history of world war 1. Bedroom quiet and comfortable bed with all amenities. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Everything , another lovely stay. Great location for visiting the Somme Battlefield and beyond. Fantastic, knowledgeable hosts and lovely food !
