As I have been travelling extensively in the area lately I realise how many hidden gems there are in terms of suburban and rural accommodation offering great value for money, extraordinary comfort and care compared to accommodations in historical and touristic cities that take advantage of proximity and do little effort to meet travellers needs and quality services. Il Giardino del Conte Custoza is a gem in the country side of Mantua. Situated in the premises of the garden of a former aristocratic family, the building has been beautifully renovated and maintains the charm of its original function. The rooms are cosy and well furnished, all facing on a beautiful garden. The bed is super comfy and the bathroom is well equipped with all toiletries and a nice hot shower. The breakfast is super, with quality products and home made cakes prepared by the host. I was offered a gluten free breakfast with several options. The host is really nice and caring. The location is good for both trips to Verona and Mantua, a stone's throw from the BnB. There is a private parking at the BnB premises. Definitely a nice base to visit the area between Garda Lake, Mantua and Verona.
