I booked the Obal since I was travelling to meet friends living in Marbella and to attend a memorial where friends were travelling all over the globe. Since I was only staying for two nights and spending time with friends all day at the El Fuerte Hotel I thought I would try the Obal since the location is excellent and the reviews all impressive. On the outset I reiterated twice I want a room in a quiet location. The staff reassured me via text this would be provided. The room was wonderful and pristine but one night was ruined by the vibration of a burst pipe on the main road causing a little noise but nothing I couldn’t cope with but v early in the morning I was disturbed by the housekeeping maids making loud noises and laughing directly outside my door causing me to wake up. I had to open the door and ask them politely to keep the noise down. This is unacceptable especially as I had alerted ‘do not disturb’ on the door and this was ignored. Secondly, at breakfast this morning upon arriving at 10.30am the waiter was irritated by the fact that myself and other guests had arrived at this time and he was clearing up declaring that breakfast was finishing although we were advised breakfast was served until 11am! There needs to be more cohesion in directing staff from management and when guests request small provisions upon booking in, all staff including the housekeeping maids need to respect the privacy. Also when I checked out, I was in a rush and expressed the above with Marina and asked her if I could book a taxi transfer to the airport. Reflecting the appalling disturbance the first night, I asked as a gesture of goodwill, would the hotel offer me a subsidised rate to book a car to the airport. Usually in 4 star hotels and in my case 5 star where o normally stay, when a request is presented to staff, it’s up to the staff to provide a solution and not keep me waiting (in this case) to discuss the situation with her two other colleagues.

Very modern, and clearly a new hotel. Whilst the rooms are a little small, they are very clean and the furnishings are modern and new. The room had the all important full length mirror, great lighting and strong AC that can be left on when you’re not in the room. Staff were exceptional! Pool food was really nice and food and drink is well priced! Very good Pima Colada! 12pm check out is perfect! Reception WhatsApp is super handy and they contacted us a few days before check-in to offer a taxi service from the airport - nice touch.

Lovely hotel, perfect location for exploring old town and nearby Puerto Banús, 2 minutes walk to beach front also. Staff friendly and professional, we got an upgraded room which was a lovely surprise, larger than booked one, with coffee machine also. Modern contemporary rooms and communal areas, huge comfortable bed, view of park, lovely lighting. Nice rooftop bar in hotel too which we visited once for cocktails - also a small pool and sun loungers here, looked nice though we did not use it during our stay.
