Free beach! After spending some time in Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Tulum, we were pleasantly surprised that you can actually go to the beach and use the beach beds without paying anything (granted you're a guest of the hotel). The beach is nice and calm with a clay-like bottom that almost feels like mud when you step on it. There is a long reef barrier that makes this "lagoon" with very warm water and no waves. Great for splashing around and paddleboarding but there is almost no visibility due to the clay on the bottom. You can venture about 100 meters to the reef and see some nice underwater life in the "actual" sea. It is quite sketchy getting there, though.

The hotel and on-site staff are very nice. The beach with lounge chairs is just across the street. The hotel has a well-equipped kitchen, a great view (I stayed in the Lerici room), and a lovely balcony. In my opinion, the location doesn’t matter much since the village is small and very walkable. I also tried the restaurant downstairs—the food was excellent.
