The location of Pension Carrera is excellent, just a couple minutes from Puerta del Sol and a short distance to Gran Via, Chueca and other popular destinations in the heart of Madrid. Getting there is easy as it's linked to Atocha via Cercanias and underground. Our room was ample and with a nice balcony. The bathroom was small but clean and had a shower, toilet and basin and plenty of soap. The room had two beds, wardrobe, a small wall table and TV, the latter was not used as we only stayed for one night. We didn't use the WiFi either. One note, don't be surprised about the non-working safe, it's not offered as facility but it's still there as sort of decoration.

The lady at the reception is very nice. She doesn’t speak English, but she manages perfectly with Google Translate and even understands a little bit on her own. The radio built into the wall was amazing. The beds were comfortable, the sheets were clean, and the location is excellent. The building also has an elevator, which is very convenient.
