Arthur “A good, fairly affordable home base for exploring central Madrid”

With this hostel, you are very much paying for the location, not the services. That being said, this is a completely adequate home base for exploring the centre of Madrid, with loads of things to do at a very short walking distance from the front door! If, like me, all you need is a comfortable bed in an airconditioned room with a nice private bathroom, this is the place for you. Breakfast is also available free of charge, at quite late hours too which is nice for a weekend trip! It is quite simple, consisting of a glass of fresh orange juice, a hot beverage and your choice of sandwich (I though the cheese and ham grilled sandwich was great) and it will be brought to your room by the staff, as there is no common area to eat in. This can be challenging to fit on a table in the smaller rooms or if you travel with multiple people, but for a solo traveler it worked fine. Do note that breakfast times are not posted anywhere! During the weekends it seems to be from approximately 10:00 to 11:30.

My room was small, but it had everything you need. It is located in the middle of lively Malasaña. Staff is friendly. It was all good.

We stayed in a Double Superior street-facing room with balcony on the first floor of the building. It is very well located and with the good double glass balcony windows, which is important during weekend nights, the room was quiet to sleep. The personnel is very attentive and even if the reception is only open until 15:00, anything can be easily asked/arranged via whatsapp. Easy access to the room with keypad door lock and/or card to open the door, both provided. Having wifi access proved to be inportant as the old thick walls barely let pass any 4G signal to the room.
