Burton “A great basic base to explore the island”

The flat has all the basics for a no-frills self catering stay. The location is good - if you're travelling light you could walk from the airport if you wanted (though it would take an hour or so - contrary to what Google thinks, you can walk by the side of the 'motorway') - taxi in the evening cost us 10€ for about 5 minutes (he did drive frighteningly fast!), or you can take a regular service bus if you can work out the timetable (SAM bus). The best thing, though, was the host who let us enjoy the holiday but went above and beyond when I left my laptop cable - they brought it to the airport and refused any tips for doing so. We didn't have a car, but there is space for parking just opposite. Also the bus stop to get to Funchal and the nearest town is just a few meters away from the door with more-or-less an hourly service. It's quiet - the noise of the planes is infrequent and didn't really bother us. We would stay again.
