The owners Dulce and her husband were sooooo jice and kind. They welcomed us the house, recommend places and introduce the house spaces. They are very helpful. Reallly really recommend this place.

We had the most wonderful stay in Casa de Avo and were very sad to leave it. The location is perfect, beautiful surroundings and walking distance from the centre of Machico. There are two big supermarkets about 15 mins walk away as well as local bakery with fresh baked goods and cakes just 2 mins walk away. It is a perfect location for hiking with lots of hikes that can be even started in Machico, while others just short drives away. Dulce was a lovely and welcoming host and the house itself is well equipped, kitchen has every utensil that can think of. Wonderful stay and hope to be back at some point!

Dulce welcomed us upon arrival with fresh fruit from her garden and local food and drinks. The house has everything you need for your stay, from a coffee machine, toaster, microwave... It is located in a quiet area with free parking in front of the house. Upstairs, there is a large bedroom with access to a balcony where you can enjoy the peace and the view of the city in the evening. The rooms are equipped with big wardrobes, so there is plenty of space to store your belongings, and the beds are comfortable. Just 20 meters from the house is Pizzeria Alforno, so when you don’t feel like cooking, you can go for a really good pizza. Throughout our stay, Dulce was available and always ready to help (which means a lot when you are far from home). There really wasn’t anything we were missing. If we ever return to Madeira, this is where we would want to stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment - it was even better than it appeared in the pictures. The views from the windows were stunning, and the terrace was a great addition. Everything was clean, tidy, and well-maintained. The host was incredibly welcoming and responsive, always quick to reply. We were greeted with fresh fruit and local sweets, which was a nice touch. The host also provided excellent recommendations for nearby places to eat, shop, and explore. The rooster songs in the morning added a charming, rustic touch to our stay. The only thing we would have wished for was heating options, as our trip to Madeira was in mid-December, and it felt a bit chilly in the apartment. However, there were plenty of warm blankets available to keep us comfortable. We would definitely recommend Casa da Avó as a place to stay when visiting Madeira.
