We were excited to return to this lovely spot, having stayed here before it was taken over by the brewery. Our previous experience had us eager for another visit, but unfortunately, it hasn't quite lived up to our memories. On the positive side, the location remains wonderful, offering beautiful surroundings that are perfect for a getaway. The breakfast is still fabulous, and we enjoyed the meals we had during our stay—excellent food overall. However, we did notice some areas where the service has slipped, particularly at the bar. It wasn't quite as attentive as we remembered. Additionally, the menu for vegetarian options was disappointing, lacking variety and creativity. The rooms, while still clean, seem to have lost some of their former charm and require a bit of investment. We encountered slight mould, and the mirror in our bathroom (room 14) was quite outdated and in poor condition. The stair carpet also left a less-than-great first impression, which is unfortunate. Despite these issues, it’s still great value for money, and we believe with a little TLC, it could easily regain its former glory. We hope to see some improvements on our next visit!
