So this was a bit of an experiment. I had only been in a hostel twice, for one night each time, and it was capsules rather than bunk beds. Pros: - There are curtains (at least in my room). This is the main reason why I chose this hostel over others. I don't understand how you can do without them, feeling like you're always being watched. - There are also spacious lockers, I could even fit my suitcase (cabin size) in them. - It's right in front of the Hollywood Highlands metro station (it's a small door, so look carefully), and it's on that half-kilometer where Hollywood's tourist nightlife is concentrated. - The place has good metro connections to the central station (Union Station, for metro and other trains), Santa Monica, and Long Beach. There are many souvenir shops nearby, a couple of pharmacies (CVS/Walgreens, if you get sick like I did) and a few "survival" stores (Target, 7-Eleven), as well as a McDonald's a 3- or 4-minute walk away. . - The hostel is very large, with people coming and going, and no one gives a damn about you. For someone with social anxiety like me, that's great. - The kitchen is spacious but divided into two: a main one with a stove, pans, and pots (as well as spices), and another one that is basically only for tea and coffee. There are 3 or 4 refrigerators, and you have to put your name on them, otherwise they'll throw your stuff away (on paper, at least...), but I didn't use the service, so I don't know much about how it works. - Large towel included (although it looked more like a blanket, in my case; maybe it was...), as well as soap and shampoo (to dry your hair, you have to ask for a hair dryer at the reception, at least for men, and it's free). - It has a laundry service, they sell detergent, the room is all yours for those two hours, and it's more comfortable than going to a laundromat.
