LOVED this hotel. I was nervous because of how cheap it was compared to other hotels in the area but it really exceeded my expectations. It’s the old miners cabins and with photos adorning every wall it felt like a museum and tribute aswell as a hotel. I loved the shared spaces like the living room and kitchen. The living room was a cozy retreat from the harsh winter outside and the kitchen was a great way to save money on the trip with the supermarket being only a few minutes walk away. The free breakfast was HUGE. So many options for all dietary needs, they even had caviar!? The room was simple but everything you need for a base for a trip where you spend most time out and about exploring. The room was clean and very warm. I was nervous about shared bathrooms but they were cleaned regularly throughout the day. And there is many in the corridor so always one available when I needed to use one. They all have a toilet, shower and hairdryer. They also have a luxury one with a large bathtub, this was great. The staff were welcoming and friendly and answered all questions and offered advice. Reception desk also has a postcard service to save having to go out to the post office. It’s a short walk into the town for things like restaurants, supermarkets, etc. The bridge into town is also the perfect spot for northern lights hunting as it’s quite dark! All but one of my tours picked up from this hotel. The one that didn’t was less than 5 mins away to walk to. Overall, a great stay that felt like a home away from home. Lots of little details that really made it a perfect stay!

Excellent place to stay in the Arctic! The perfect cozy climate inside, complimentary tea & coffee which helps you to warm yourself after roaming in the city and surroudings. One of the guys from the personnel even advised us when seeing some extraordinary polar lights to come out - and we've got a show of our life. Neat clean bathrooms, very comfortable beds, excellent breakfast. The hotel itself is close to some attractions and the city center. Would definitely recommend! The restaurant Vinterhagen is an additional gem - I enjoyed the seal steak and my wife the vegan option. Should I come back to Longyearbyen - I would definitely choose Mary-Ann Polarrig again :) Keep doing good job!

The property is exactly the sort of vibe you want in a place like Svalbard. The styling is this slightly industrial and on-theme for an ex mining town in polar bear country. But inside the facilities are spotless, cozy and warm and perfect to sit and watch the snow fall outside. The staff are incredible. They are so on top of everything. Desk manned 24/7 which is so useful.
