Lovely room ,really friendly greeting. We return the end of week for two nights. Orana house is really well looked after Hotel. Rooms are big and our room had two comfortable armchairs ,along with a large bathroom. This is a really traditional Hotel from years ago and has loads of character

Loved the heritage feel and the history was there to read. Nina was an incredible host - nothing too much trouble. Breakfasts were fantastic, rooms comfortable, gardens beautiful. Would definitely stay again.

Orana House is a charming and quaint property located close to the water and within walking distance to local amenities. Nina and Chad were very welcoming hosts, reaching out a few days before our arrival to introduce themselves and make us feel at home. We arrived quite late on the 10th and completed a smooth self check-in — the instructions for parking, accessing the house, and finding our room were clear and easy to follow. We booked what we later discovered was the “budget room” for $165 per night (discounted through Booking.com, with a standard rate closer to $198). The room itself is quite small but includes the essentials: a TV, double bed, wardrobe, and a bathroom with both a bath and shower. There’s also a small shelf with a kettle, tea, and instant coffee and a built in wooden bench to sit on. There were a few initial issues with the room. The shower was missing a curtain on arrival, and the portable oil heater was unstable due to a missing wheel, making it difficult (and slightly unsafe) to move. While the curtain was later provided after housekeeping attended the room, there wasn’t any acknowledgement or apology for it initially being absent. Additionally, the heater had been turned off during servicing, which meant returning to a very cold room despite leaving it on low — not ideal given the cooler April temperatures. On the positive side, breakfast each morning was excellent. There was a great selection, and the hosts were accommodating of dietary needs. As someone who is gluten- and dairy-free, I really appreciated the effort made to provide suitable options such as gluten-free bread and boiled eggs, along with fresh fruit and other choices. Nina in particular was warm and attentive, always greeting guests with a smile. The common areas were a highlight — a cosy lounge with a fireplace, comfortable seating, books, and games like chess and cards. The décor throughout the house is unique, with many original pieces that add character and charm.
