The fine print
To the hotel from the train station:
- leave the train station to the main street
- walk the main street uphill, continuing in the direction you have come by train, towards the Staubbach Waterfall.
- after 500 metres, you will see Hotel Staubbach on your left-hand side. (If you pass the church you have gone too far.)You can also take the bus to the hotel (direction Stechelberg), which stops opposite the train station. Get off at the first stop and proceed for a few minutes on foot.There are no taxis in Lauterbrunnen, but you can order a taxi in advance from Garage Gertsch in the next village.

In the heart of the pretty village of Lauterbrunnen, the location was superb, just a 10 minute walk from the train station, with regular connections to Interlaken. Getting around the area is super easy, with very well connected trains, gondolas and cable cars. Plenty of restaurants in the village, so no need for one in the hotel, but providing a room with a fridge, microwaves, cutlery, plates etc to prepare your own simple meals was very welcome, as eating out in Switzerland is very expensive to do every night. Also a great way to meet fellow guests from all over the world. Same with the communal TV room/chess boards etc. Good breakfast every morning, filled you up for the day, so no need to buy expensive lunches when out and about exploring the mountains. View of Staubach Falls and the mountains from our balcony was superb. Good, free wifi connection too. Loved the quirkiness and old world charm of the hotel. Spotlessly clean, helpful and friendly staff and very welcoming.

The hotel is old and quaint and in a lovely location. For me the stand out part of our stay was Adam who is by far the most welcoming and helpful person I have ever met in the hotel industry. He goes the extra mile to accommodate guest requests and to make guests feel at home.
