Hostel Overview

Located within the famous Golden Circle sightseeing trail, Héradsskólinn Historic Guesthouse overlooks Lake Laugarvatn, Hekla Volcano and the Eyjafjallajökull Glacier. A bistro, café, bar and tour desk are found on site. WiFi is free.
Set in a 1920s former school building, Héradsskolinn offers both private rooms and dorms. All rooms feature bright décor, lake- or mountain views and access to a pool table and TV lounge. Guests can choose between rooms with private or shared bathrooms.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed at Héradsskolinn’s bistro. Guests can enjoy a drink in the bar or relax in the library. A children’s playroom is also found on site.

Breakfast was very good and not too expensive. Loved all the decorations and atmosphere there. The view over the lake is insane!!!

Property had lots of history , very clean , warm, it had everything that we needed ( paper towels , regular towels , equipped kitchen) , free wifi , free parking , friendly staff , breakfast available

We had a great night in Laugarvtan! Easy and smooth check-in, parking out front, standard room with nice decor. The shared facilities were clean and tidy. It had a good atmosphere and feel to it. Lots of history and art to look at throughout. Not to mention the geothermal baths with discount just down the road.
