Food was delicious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, which always makes a stay anywhere, more enjoyable. The location was outstanding.

Lacock is a lovely period village oftern used for filming productions such as Harry Potter, Warhose, Downton Abbey, Agatha Raisen etc. The town is very small, but an excellent base to explore the Coltswolds and apart from Bank Holiday weekend, which was very busy, the village is a quiet and peaceful retreat. The Red Lion is a period building, and was used in the BBC's Pride and Prejudice, so it does look a bit tired in places, but as virtually everything in the village is owned by English Heritage they are probably limited as to what they can do. Our room was very large and comfortable and the cleaners very friendly and accomodating, restocking everything and ensuring our room was spotless. The staff were all great, very helpful and welcoming to us and our dog offering advice on where to visit and best places to park. The pub has a large car-park to the rear, which is the main village car-park and was free to use and we only struggled to park once on the Bank Holiday. There is another paid English Heritage carpark a short walk away. The food was good, both breakfast and dinner, not sure how much as cooked from scratch in-house as we found the same menu at the other pub in the village and in another pub a short distance, but it was nice food and reasonably priced. I can highly recommend the Sign of the Angel, the only resturant in Lacock, a 2 min walk from the Red Lion. The beer in the Red Lion was excellent, sourced from local breweries and was well kept. We would definetly return to the Red Lion as we really enjoyed our stay.
