This was fantastic experience and I would go back. The location, facility itself, owner, staff, everything was more than perfect. The day we came was very bad weather, I came with a child, with a idea just to leave the luggage (because check in was at 2pm) but they let us in the room at noon, they gave us hot tea, helped us with a luggage. Next two days they were like a family to us, providing everything we need, even the small umbrella for a kid. And Japanese experience of the sleeping on futon beds and having tea was more than great. If you want to have ryokan experience visit Yamadaya Ryokan. Also the famous temple is just across the street, and next to the ryokan is great, small cafeteria with excellent breakfast, if you choose only to sleep in the ryokan. And you have to try onsen as well.
