Large, modern room that comfortably accommodated our family of five. Within walking distance to key sights in Higashiyama and Gion. Close to the subway station and restaurants/cafes. The restaurant and rooftop area were a bonus. Would definitely stay here again. We loved our stay at Hotel Material.

Room was larger than average but beds on floor, so be aware. Does have a communal roof terrace 😊

The room was smaller than expected, there was no place to store our suitcases. But it was clean and the bed was comfortable and it's in a good location to see a lot of temples and shrines.
