The hotel was a very nice small apartment complex with only about 9 rooms. The room was quite spacious on Japanese hotels. Great to have a washing machine/dryer which worked well. Double bed very comfortable, used YouTube to gain a lot of English speaking news channels live using the small remote. Flora very helpful at reception on our arrival. We used the bus #206 across the road from the hotel about 20 mins into Kyoto Station very easy. We tried the train underground near the river once and it was a bit of a nightmare!

Great position in the heart of Gion next to the Yasaka shrine (I suggest to go there in the night for the lanterns), the Maruyama park, and you can easily walk around Gion, or go left to Nishiki, or go down to the Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka walkways, up to the Kiyomizu temple, without needing any bus. The room was very comfortable and with a lot of space compared to many japanese hotels, with a big bathroom/shower, and a dedicated kitchen (that I didn't need to use). The staff, despite not being in the house (there's no physical reception) was very accomodating, and quick to respond to the phone for the check-in/out and any other issue. Remember to have some way to call the reception when you check in and out, because there's a procedure to follow to get the key. Whatsapp calls are fine if you don't have a japanese number.

Excellent location- few minutes from Yasaka shrine. Lovely area. We had the family room, one double bed and kids bed. Decent sized room with a big window. Very helpful staff- helped me retrieve a bag I had forgotten in the train. Several bus stops close by. But the metro station is about 10mins away. The bathroom is compact with a washing machine. Need some hooks to hang towels between use.
