Authentic Japanese experience! We are not used to sleep in futons and eat fish and miso in the morning! But it is all part of what we were expecting! So definitely worth it!

Staying at Gion Yoshima was one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Kyoto. The ryokan has a wonderfully calm and traditional atmosphere, and from the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Their hospitality is warm, attentive, and perfectly balanced — always ready to help but never intrusive. The traditional tatami room was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully maintained, offering an authentic Japanese experience with all the comfort we could wish for. Sleeping on the futon was surprisingly comfortable, and waking up to the serene garden view felt magical. The Japanese breakfast were an unforgettable highlight. Every dish was prepared with care, presented beautifully, and full of flavour. It truly felt like experiencing Kyoto’s culinary culture in the best possible way. The location couldn’t be better — right in the heart of Gion. We were steps away from charming historical streets, temples, and great shops, yet the ryokan itself felt peaceful and quiet. Overall, Gion Yoshima is a perfect blend of tradition, comfort, and exceptional hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience Kyoto in a truly special and authentic way.
