Archibald is really a motel / bar / restaurant, not what we English would generally call a hotel, up a mountain, miles from anywhere, and on the face of it looks a bit run down. But the room was a good size, the shower worked, the bed was comfortable, and the feared road-noise was not a problem at all. We decided to eat in the bar/restaurant to avoid driving more, with no high hopes -- and were surprised by an absolutely excellent dinner, well put together and expertly cooked, and washed down by a delicious red recommended by the knowledgeable young man behind the bar. And we had fun on the pool table after our meal! All in all terrific value for money. Luxury it's not, but it provides excellent service in an out of the way place at a very reasonable price.

Location, views, pubs atmosphere & meals were pretty good too. Staff friendly & helpful. Rooms comfortable.
