Lovely experience to stay in a temple in a traditional room and tasting traditional vegetarian breakfast/ dinner which were beautifully prepared and very tasty. Rooms and shared bathroom with onsen were clean. Room had a heater that warmed the room efficiently. Day we were visiting Koyasan was a cold and rainy one but adding to the overall experience. Situated across the road from Okunoin cemetery and easy to join the night tour.(advanced booking was recommended). Joining morning prayer was such a nice experience and highlight. Good and detailed communication prior to stay.

It was a great experience staying in a temple and attending the prayers in the mornings. The food was excellent! The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The temple itself has a lovely garden and feels homely. We enjoyed the public bath, though note that the bath (including shower) is only open from 4pm. The location is great, near the bus stop, cemetery, and shops. The monks were very friendly.

We were greeted by a monk who brought us to our room: a clean, simple traditional tatami room. a safe and a small tv were provided is we wished to use them. Bathrooms are shared. Traditional buddhist monk meals (supper and breakfast) were flavourful, beautifully presented and carefully described by our host.

Brilliant experience - the dinner and breakfasts were exceptional, it was very special to witness the Buddhist morning prayers and we were lucky to experience a fire ceremony. Very hospitable hosts, and a wonderful trip in Koyasan.
