We had to give a low number on our review as on arrival we were greeted with a letter advising us that the hotel had not been paid by Booking.com. We had proof we paid. We had just arrived from a long day and very delayed flight and our taxi had not waited. We were luckily given the room. We phoned Booking.com who also called the hotel to advise that our booking was paid for and to enjoy our holiday. In the morning reception once again advised that they had not received payment and wanted to hold the money on our credit card in case booking.com did not pay them. We absolutely refused and told the reception that their issues is with Booking.com NOT us and we are not paying twice for our room. This was a really bitter taste to what should have been a lovely stay in an absolutely stunning hotel. The hotel is like, as its name suggests, a palace. Stunning room and chandeliers everywhere. Breakfast was fabulous!! Big shame about our welcome to Klagenfurt!
