This was a lovely, clean and comfortable cottage in a picturesque market town. Our stay was specifically to meet with family who live in Kirkby Stephen for a birthday celebration and we barely scratched the surface of things to do in the area but the property would be an excellent base for those who seek peace and quiet and enjoy countryside walks whether those immediately on hand in and immediately around Kirkby Stephen itself, or just a short drive away to the nearby nature reserves. The very friendly owners, Anthony and Fiona, made sure to meet us at the cottage. We’d had a long journey and it was difficult to predict in advance exactly what time we’d arrive so all they asked was for us to keep them updated as best we could. They have clearly given lots of thought to what their guests might need, providing plenty of leaflets, books and guides for ideas of things to do but also a good selection of games and DVDs should the weather take a turn for the worse (happily not the case for our stay).
