Rooftop pool was clean and cool with beautiful views. Service was attentive and helpful. Coffee was tasty.

I booked full board by mistake, usually favour finding my own spots to eat, but glad I did. The food was excellent, great western dishes with a sri lankan twist, and I requested some sri lankan food, chef obliged. The location is up a hill, 20 min walk or a 1 euro tuk tuk ride, so it's nice and quiet for a good night's sleep, harder to get in the middle of town. I did dome tours and back for dinner and lunch, which you can enjoy by their infinity pool, luxury. As for some comments about leafs in pool or worn carpets, if this is important to you, might I suggest this part of the world may not be for you, and book into your local sterile hotel chain instead. The hotel is lovely, and the staff are charming and helpful.

The staff at this hotel are excellent, nothing was too much trouble and they made sure that we had a great stay. Chandimal in particular. The location is very handy to stroll down the hill to the lake. The pool area and bar suited out group of 7 perfectly, and we enjoyed breakfast and evening meals very much. Would certainly come back to the Serene.
