Nina is the most wonderful host! We had the private room as on our honeymoon. When we saw the reviews of Pongyi we knew we had to stay for the experience and the organised activities. While we stayed we did an origami and a cooking class. Both were so much fun! We loved chatting with Nina. She also offers your name in kanji for a small fee which is a special keepsake. We learnt so much during our stay we are so glad to have picked Pongyi for Kanazawa. It was easy to walk to the places we wanted to visit. Our room was comfortable and had plenty of space. Sharing the toilet and shower facilities was no problem, we didn't have to wait.

I've loved each hotel I've stayed at in Japan but this went far beyond every other place. The staff here, Masaki-san and Nina-san, were the best hosts. There was an optional evening activity that all of the guests joined in for and they shared so much about the culture and about the location we were in. We got to know one another and learn about Japan while having fun. My sister and I loved the trip to Japan, but this place made me want to come back just to stay here again. The room was small but cozy and perfect- the guest house used to be a kimono shop and it holds so much charm. They provided tea, snacks and any amenities we needed. It was clean and comfortable, plus in a great location. with lots of food nearby. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Our stay at Pongyi was the highlight of our trip, by a mile. We were given a warm welcome and given a thorough breakdown of things to do in Kanazawa, plus the tip about the scenic walking route down to the samurai district was something we wouldn't have found on our own (following the stream). Niina-san organises activities at night to engage the guests, even a takoyaki night where Masaki-san joined and they both taught everyone how to make takoyaki. The beds were very comfortable, each bunk offers a lot of privacy despite being a shared dorm. All the facilities are well decorated and kept very clean and tidy. The location is excellent as well, only 10 minutes walk from the station and 20 minutes from the castle.

We had a lovely stay at Guest House Pongyi. It’s a lovely small guest house and we felt very welcome. Nina took great care of us, she was professional and friendly, the house was very clean and Nina gave great tips on restaurants and areas to go to. Also, in the evening, she organised lovely activities for the guests such as teaching us origami. Our stay in Kanazawa wouldn’t have been as good if we wouldn’t have stayed in this guest house. We would definitely recommend it!
