Breakfast & dinner Buffet was great. Beautiful area. We stayed in a traditional Japanese style room.

Despite being decades old, the hotel didn't show its age, was comfortable to stay in, and had great facilities. Incredibly, dinner actually included an open bar, with liqueur and beer. We encountered one or two tour groups, but the hotel was more than spacious enough to accommodate them, and it never felt overcrowded, whether during mealtimes or at the public baths.

Great public onsens (indoor & outdoor) with beautiful views, good location near the ropeway and momijidaki trailhead.

The best parts of my stay were the buffet breakfast and dinners and the onsen (there were 3 to choose from). From this hotel you can hike to the Ryusei and Ginga Waterfalls (about 30 min one-way on paved walkway along the road) and the Momijidani Waterfall (a tougher hike through forest terrain with some climbing over rocks and slopes).
