All the staff were came across were so so friendly and helpful. Our room was immaculate and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. Breakfast was extremely tasty too.

Upon arrival, the welcome from the owner was so warm and friendly. The whole ambience of the hotel was so welcoming. My room and en-suite were both spacious and comfortable. I'm not a walker but every other guest was and the hotel seems to cater for their requirements with a large porch to leave boots and shoes plus providing pack lunches on request. Breakfast consisted of traditional English/Scottish cooked and cereals including porridge. Dinner is not provided but there is a choice of restaurants in the town centre a short walk from the hotel.

Our second visit within a week as we were walking the circular Borders Abbeys Way. Allerton House was our first and last night. We had the same room - Castle- as on the first visit some 6 nights previously. It was excellent and the en suite bath was much appreciated!
